2.5.2015 Jsme si všimli, že za okno naší ložnice často nalétávají kosi. Překvapeně jsme zjistitli, že v truhlíku s uschlou levandulí je postavené hnízdo a v něm čtyři zelenomodrá vajíčka. | We noticed that blackbirds are quite frequently right behind our bedroom window on 2nd May. In addition, we discovered a nest with four tuquoise blue eggs sitting in our pot with dry lavender we wanted to replace by a new one. New plants need to wait until the birds are hatched.

3.5.-12.5. 2015 Kosice často sedává v hnízdě na vejcích. Občas se objeví kos, ale na vajíčka si nesedá, spíš jen stíní před prudkým sluncem. | Female blackbird sits on the eggs in the nest very often. sometimes, a male bird comes to visit. He does not sit on the eggs, he rather shelters them from a strong sunshine.

13.5. 2015 První kosí mládě se vylíhlo v 6 hodin ráno. | The first egg hatched at 6 am.
Druhé mládě se vylíhlo asi v 10 hodin. | The second bird hatched around 10 am.
Kosí rodiče všechna mláďata hned postupně krmili přineseným hmyzem a žížalami. | The parents fed all chicks with quite large insects and earthworms, frequently and all day long.
Třetí se vylíhlo asi v 11:15. | The third egg hatched at 11:15 am. Note the eyes that are not working, though their size is the same as those of the adults.
V 16:17 jedno z mláďat zmizelo, nevíme proč, ale v hnízdě byla jen kosice. | At 4:17 pm one of the small birds disappeared. We do not know why, they seemed all alive shortly before that time. The cause was the female blackbird.
Když rodiče odlétli hledat potravu, po zbytek dne jsme viděli dvě ptáčata a jedno vajíčko. | The rest of the day was this view - two chicks and one egg.
14.5. 2015 Asi v 6 hodin ráno se vylíhlo poslední mládě. | The last chick got out of the egg shell at 6 am on the next day.
15.5.2015 Máme hlad! | We are hungry!!!!!
16.5.2015 Rodiče nestačí nosit žížaly a další kosí potravu. | The parents barely manage to bring enough earthworms and other feed for the small ones.
Když se kosáci nedožadují jídla, tak spí. | When not feeding, they sleep.
17.5.2015 Potravu nosí i táta kosák. | Both parents participate in feeding, this is the male one.
18.5.2015 Kosatům začíná růst peří a pomalu se jim otevírají oči. | Small birds are getting feathers and their eyes start opening up.
Tentokrát kosice chytla lučního koníka. | A grasshopper will be eaten this time.

20.5.2015 Kosta už začínají vypadat jako ptáci | The chicks resemble birds more and more every day.
Jsou zvědaví a hladoví a vykukují zpod mámy kosice. | The small ones are so curious or hungry that they must peek out of the nest all the time.
Kosata už se derou z hnízda. | The chicks are almost climbing out of the nest anytime when looking for food (calling to attract parents to bring them food).
21.5.2015 Opeření se lepší a kosáci rostou (aspoň 3x od narození). | Denser feather coverage and they have trippled in size.

27.5.2015 V 6:20 odlétá první mládě do světa. | The first grown-up leaves at 6:20 am.
V 7:57 odlétají zbylá dvě mláďata. | The other two follow two hours later at 7:57 am.
Od té doby je hnízdo prázdné. | The nest is empty since then.
